The term internet of things refers to the interconnection of devices that is done wirelessly and without any human involvement.
How does the IoT work:
There are some hardware devices like sensors, that are integrated with the software which is collected by the sensors and shared to the cloud. The software analyses the data and is transferred to users by an app or website.
What is an IoT device:
Connecting any two objects through the internet is known as an IoT device. Sensors, gadgets, machines, etc are the devices that are small pieces of hardware things. These devices are programmed for only certain applications and inserted into other objects.
Here there are some examples of IoT devices:
- Smart mobile
- Medical sensors
- Home security
- Google home voice controller
How IoT is helpful to us:
IoT is a part of everyone’s life. Sharing of data between the devices of daily use is done with the help of an internet connection without any human interference. So without knowing ourselves we use IoT devices in daily life.
There are a few applications in real life:
- Human care
- Transportation
- Smart city
- Smart home
- Agriculture.
- Smart grid.
- Wearables.
Health care:
Normally, the communication between doctors and patients was very limited. Because of that they can’t monitor the health condition of every single person continuously. After the integration of IoT with healthcare, it became easy to check the health condition of a person continuously with the help of devices. There are some devices used in healthcare with the connection of IoT devices like wheelchairs, fitness bands, smart watches, stress detectors, etc. Some of these wearables are used to check their blood pressure and heart rate.
Smart home:
Smart homes Are also known as home automation and domotics. A residence is internet-connected to monitor and control the home appliances like lights, fans, etc. home automation provides comfort and security by allowing us to control the smart devices with the Home app.
Some of the applications are here:
- Doors
- Lightening
- Gardening
- Temperature control
- Security system.
Transportation:
There are various applications in transportation. IoT plays a major role in every application of transportation. IoT in transportation is not only applicable for traveling it also makes it more secure and comfortable. It also works with communication and entertainment, and GPS navigation.
Few applications of IoT transportation are:
- Traffic management
- Ticket and tolling
- Vehicle tracking
- Improved safety
- Connected cars
